An RFID reader, also known as an interrogator, is a key component of any RFID system. What are the components of RFID reader? It typically consists of two main parts: a scanning antenna and a transceiver. The scanning antenna emits radio waves to communicate with RFID tags, while the transceiver receives and decodes the signals sent back by the tags. Together, these components enable the reader to detect the presence of nearby RFID tags and retrieve the information stored on them. The third essential component in an RFID system is the transponder, which is embedded in the RFID tag itself. When the tag enters the range of the reader’s antenna, it is activated by the radio signals and transmits its stored data back to the reader. RFID readers can be fixed or handheld, and they are used in a wide range of applications including inventory management, access control, and asset tracking.
